FAQ about the whole hog competition.

Please if you have a question ask, don’t wait till your on the field or your box is at the judges table !

 

Q:
What is the turning time for the blind boxes?
A:
The Boxes have to turned in on Saturday between 12:55:00 and 13:04:59

Q:
Is it allowed to cook indirect on the floor?
A:
If there is a heat shield between the floor and the heat source, it is allowed by the contest rules as long as the organizer/owner of the property allows it this way!
So be sure to contact the organizer if you want to do so!
 
Q:
Will the pig be judges as a whole? (before the boxes will be made)
A:

Yes, the pig will be judges in the Hog Circle.
The field judges will start after the boxes have been turned in.
So there is meat used from the pig for the boxes and it is up to the skills od the team to keep the pig presentable.

Q:
Are the turn-in containers the same as used for a KCBS contest?
A:
Correct, the Turn-in containers will be the same as used for a/the KCBS contest.

Q:
Can a team use their own plates for the field judges?
A:
Yes, a team can use their own plates or planks to present the meat to the field judges.

Q:
Will the plate for the auction be judged?
A:
No, But the better it looks the higher the bids.
A full plate and a Beautiful plate both have their own attraction.
